Most rental problems in Cebu come from things nobody checked at handover: a soft rear brake, scratches that were already there, or a deposit with no clear terms. Ten minutes with this list saves your trip and your deposit.
The bike
- Brakes. Squeeze both levers hard: they should feel firm, not reach the grip.
- Tyres. Visible tread, no cracks or bald patches, especially before riding to the mountains.
- Lights and horn. Headlight, brake light, both indicators, horn. You will need all of them in Cebu traffic.
- Age and mileage. Ask the model year and look at the odometer. Newer bikes break down less.
Papers and gear
- Registration papers. Make sure you have a copy of the OR/CR (Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration): police ask for it at checkpoints.
- Helmets. Two helmets that actually fit, with working straps. Helmets are mandatory for rider and passenger.
The deal
- Photos and video. Walk around the bike with the owner and film every side, the odometer and the fuel gauge. Send it to them on WhatsApp so both sides have the same record.
- Deposit terms in writing. How much, cash or passport, and when exactly it comes back.
- Insurance. Compulsory third-party insurance (CTPL) covers other people, not the rental bike. Ask what you pay if the bike is scratched, damaged or stolen.
- Fuel and return rules. Same fuel level on return? What counts as a late return? Who do you call if the bike breaks down?
How we do it at Breezy Ride
- 2025 Honda Click 125 scooters with low mileage.
- We photograph the bike together with you at handover and return.
- Deposit: PHP 1,000 cash + ID (refundable) for the scooter; we do not keep your passport for a scooter rental.
- Return with the same fuel level; more than 4 hours late counts as an extra day.
