Cebu City to Oslob by Motorbike: Route, Time, Whale Sharks

Riding from Cebu City to Oslob: about 120-130 km down the east coast, 3-4 hours, whale shark hours and stops.

Oslob is the classic long ride south from Cebu City: whale sharks at Tan-awan, Tumalog Falls and Sumilon Island, all along the east coast road.

Route: south along the east coast (about 120-130 km, 3-4 hours)

Take Natalio Bacalso Avenue south through Talisay, Minglanilla, Naga and Carcar, then keep to the coastal highway through Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete and Boljoon. Traffic is heavy until Naga; after Carcar the road opens up with sea views most of the way.

Whale shark hours: leave early

Whale shark watching at Tan-awan runs only in the morning, roughly 6:00 to 12:00. To make it, riders usually leave Cebu City around 3:00-4:00 am, or ride down the day before and sleep in Oslob.

Tips

  • Fuel up in Carcar or Argao; stations thin out further south.
  • Do not ride the return leg in the dark if you are new to Philippine roads.
  • Combine with Moalboal as a two-day loop around the southern tip via Santander and Samboan.
  • Carry your license and the bike papers: checkpoints are common.

For a ride this long the Kawasaki Ninja 400 is the comfortable option; a Honda Click 125 does it too, from PHP 500 per day.
