Short answer: yes. Tourists can rent a scooter or motorbike in Cebu with a valid driver's license that includes motorcycles, a passport or ID, and a refundable deposit. Here is what that means in practice.
1. A license that covers motorcycles
- Your foreign license is valid in the Philippines for 90 days from your arrival (Land Transportation and Traffic Code, RA 4136).
- It must include a motorcycle category. On an International Driving Permit this is category A. A car-only license is not enough, and police checkpoints in Cebu do check.
- If your license is not in English, carry an International Driving Permit or an official English translation.
- Staying longer than 90 days? Convert it at an LTO office, see our license guide.
2. Passport or ID and a deposit
- Honda Click 125: PHP 1,000 cash + ID (refundable).
- Kawasaki Ninja 400: PHP 10,000 cash, or PHP 5,000 + passport (refundable).
We photograph your ID; we do not keep your passport for a scooter rental.
3. What comes with the bike
- Two helmets: helmets are mandatory for rider and passenger under the Motorcycle Helmet Act (RA 10054).
- Compulsory third-party liability insurance (CTPL).
- Delivery across Metro Cebu on request; the fee is agreed in WhatsApp.
4. What it costs
Scooters in Cebu rent for about PHP 300-650 a day for 110-125cc and PHP 700-1,150 for 155cc models. Our 2025 Honda Click 125 is PHP 500-PHP 600 a day, PHP 3,000 a week or PHP 10,000 a month in low season. Full table on the prices page.
